Silvina Szperling on tunnettu ja palkittu tanssivideo-ohjaaja Argentiinasta. Hän on Buenos Airesissa pidettävän VideoDanzaBa festivaalin perustaja ja taiteellinen johtaja. Hän opettaa säännöllisesti IUNA:n yliopistossa Buenos Airesissa ja lisäksi luennoi ja opettaa laajasti eri puolilla Etelä-Amerikkaa. Yhteistyö koreografien kanssa alkoi vuonna 2006 ja siitä lähtien he ovat yhdessä toteuttaneet menestyksekkäästi kymmeniä projekteja Etelä-Amerikassa.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ms. Szper- ling has been dancing forever and choreo- graphing since the ‘80s, both for the stage and
site-specific pieces. Since 1993, she has dove into video-dance, initiating the art form in her country with her piece Temblor -“Best Editing” Prize in Argentina and part of the New York Public Library’s Dance Collection at Lincoln Center.
She is the Founder Director for the Internation- al Festival VideoDanzaBA, started in 1995. The festival is partner for VIDEODANCE MERCOSUR CIRCUIT, along with Brazilian Dança em Foco and Uruguayan FIVU and founding member
of Latin American Forum of Videodance. Ms. Szperling was commissioned by UCLA an article for the book Envisioning dance on Film and Vid- eo (Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group, NY-Lon- don). She has also published as co-editor the book Terpsícore en ceros y unos. Ensayos de Videodanza (Terpsichore in zeroes and ones. Essays on Video-dance (Ed Guadalquivir, Bue- nos Aires, 2010).
Ms. Szperling teaches the Seminar on Dance at the Arts Criticism Department at IUNA (Institu- to Universitario Nacional del Artes). She was panelist at idat99 (International dance and technology conference) at the Arizona State University, Dance for the Camera Sympo- sium, at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (USA/2001), Dance Screen (Monaco/2002) and was a guest curator at the Spanish Mostra de Video-dansa, (Barcelona/1999).
Silvina has also created a number of multime- dia pieces for SZ Danza company, with which she toured through Argentina and internation- ally and was a free-lance writer for the national newspaper Página/12 in Argentina and for La Opinión newspaper in Los Angeles and Dance Magazine.
Her video/dance SZiS has been awarded a grant from Dance Film Association, NYC and shown extensively through Latin America. Her videodance Chámame was premiered in June 2008 at Alliance Française in Buenos Aires, and was awarded First Prize at “La mujer y el cine” contest, and Third Prize at “La noche del cor- tometraje” (Buenos Aires Argentina), and Best Performance Prize at festival Tápias, Rio de Ja- neiro, Brazil. Chámame was awarded First Prize in its category at “Cinedans/IMZ” (Amsterdam, 2011) and has benn also screened at moves09 (Manchester,UK), Dance Camera West (Los Angeles, USA), Dance on Camera (New York), Dance on Camera American Dance Festival (Durham, USA), among other festivals.
